Graduation Examination

Master's Program

  • Mandatory major course: Applied Mathematics I
  • Optional major courses: select one from (1) Materials and Applied Mechanics, (2) Heat and Fluid Engineering, and (3) Manufacturing and Automation Engineering

Ph.D. Course

  • Mandatory major course: Applied Mathematics I, General Mechanical Engineering
  • Optional major courses: select one from (1) Materials and Applied Mechanics, (2) Heat and Fluid Engineering, (3) Manufacturing and Automation Engineering

Foreign language examination (requisite for submitting degree dissertation)

English examination is offered once each semester by the Graduate School.

English examination can be replaced by standardized English proficiency test.

Those who submitted a score report of a recognized English proficiency test are exempt from this requirement.

Thesis and dissertation guideline

1. A student under employment during master's program cannot take more than 6 credits per semester and should complete
at least 4 semesters before submitting dissertation.
2. A student under employment during Ph.D. program cannot take more than 6 credits per semester and should complete
at least 6 semesters before submitting dissertation.
3. A student should publish more than 200% worth of journals during a Ph.D. course (consult with Graduate School for
calculation of journal %). At least one must be published in the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers Journal
or either domestic or international academic journals that are equivalent the KSME Journal.
4. A student's academic advisor will organize Ph. D. dissertation committee with consultation of the department chair.
Two of five committee members must be outside the University with the same major field.
