Introduction

Myongji University International Summer Program is an international summer program for both students who are enrolled in Myongji University and students from other schools. The program begins in late June and lasts for five weeks. With the exception of language courses, English is the primary teaching language. In addition to providing the same courses that Myongji University offers during the spring and fall semesters, the summer program also offers Korean language courses and extra-curricular activities aimed at Korean cultural immersion. The program is also open to students from the Myongji’s overseas sister school and other university students for the purposes of promoting their communication with students of Myongji and disseminating Korean culture to the world. Through this project, we can provide Korean students with the experience of the world, and provide foreign students with the opportunity to experience Korea and to communicate with students from all over the world.

Seoul Campus • A Cultural Gathering Place for Young People

Myongji University’s purpose is “to foster creative and professional talents.” In order to achieve this purpose, the University’s Humanities campus comprises of College of Business Administration, College of Humanities, and College of Future and Convergence, etc.. The campus is near the center of the Seoul Youth Cultural Circle--Sinchon area, which is where most of Seoul’s main universities are located. To put it simply, Myongji University is located in the best education base full of imagination, inspiration, and vitality.

Modern Campus Facilities Integrating Hi-tech with Human-friendliness

In order to provide students with a more human-friendly educational environment, Myongji University has built many world-class facilities functioning for education, research, administration and performance purposes, such as the Bangmok Library, the Creative Arts Hall, and the 60th Anniversary Celebration Chapel Hall. One-Stop Service System for International Students

Foreign students can enjoy the convenience of the "One-Stop Service System" since their entry when it comes to school admission, entry and exit of Korea and administrative affairs. At the same time, OULAMI buddy students (selected elite students who represent Myongji University) at Myongji International Outreach Student Club offer campus life support and academic help to international students. The summer school program also includes culturally enriching extracurricular activities that will allow students to experience Korea in Myongji and immerse themselves in Korean culture!

Application Requirements and Academic Policy

Who can Apply

Myongji University international summer program welcomes undergraduate students from all countries to apply as well as incoming freshman and high school students with excellent academic performance.

Academic Policy

Myongji University is solely responsible for the operations and supervision of the international summer school program, such as curriculum setting, teaching administration, performance evaluations, transcript releases, etc. In addition to providing regular courses in the spring and fall semester of Myongji University, the program also offers Korean language courses and Korean cultural experience activities. The program lasts for 5 weeks and all courses are taught in English except for language courses. Each course consists of 60 contact hours, (50 minutes for each contact hour; North American colleges often use “contact hour” as the unit of calculating teachers’ workload) and the credits for each course are equivalent to 3 credits of Myongji University. If you need to transfer your credits to the university at which you are studying, please contact your university for an application to transfer credits.

Accommodation and Visa

Accommodation

Students who need accommodation can apply online for Myongji University on-campus accommodation in their registration system. The charge for accommodation is US $400 per person for 36 days (June 22nd , 2019 to July 28th, 2019). The campus dormitories are all double rooms, so we will arrange your roommate after payment is processed. Due to the limited number of rooms, accommodation arrangements will be "first paid first served.” The deadline to submit applications for accommodation is 5 weeks before school starts, so we strongly recommend students to apply for accommodation and pay fees as soon as possible in order to secure your rooms.

How to Apply

  • 1.Sign in the account and click "apply for accommodation".
  • 2.Choose the room type.
  • 3.Submit your application and make payment within 48 hours in order to secure your room.
  • 4.Fill in the payment information in “Financial Center” section of your account and submit.
  • 5.Wait for and confirmation of your accommodation.
  • 6.Check in two days before school starts.

Visa

The visa processing period for the Republic of Korea is around one month. All non-Korean students participating in the program are required to apply for visa. Please find more details of the visa process in Annex 2.
